The Yas Marina track is believed to be the most expensive circuit in history, having been constructed for Formula One on a man-made island at a reputed cost of $1 billion. Needless to say, it lacks nothing in terms of facilities, yet it has failed to capture the imagination of the drivers and fans, with overtaking in particular proving particularly difficult.
After two years of intensive planning and construction involving 14,000 staff and 35 million construction man-hours, the new facility opened its doors to the world. With the Formula One Grand Prix being a dusk race, the hotel forms glistening centrepiece, with its unique LED lighting system ensuring a colourful backdrop to the racing as dusk gives way to darkness.
Racing at the Hermann Tilke-designed facility has been mixed – passing has proved difficult, despite the long straights. The majority of the corners are medium or slow speed, making this a very technical track at which obtaining a good car balance is difficult.
The twenty-one corners twist through Yas Island off the Abu Dhabi coast, passing by the marina and through the Yas Hotel Abu Dhabi designed by New York-based architects Hani Rashid and Lise Anne Couture of Asymptote Architecture with a striking facade lighting design by Rogier van der Heide, and winding its way through several long straights and tight corners.
The marina-based development includes a theme park, a water park, as well as residential areas, hotels and beaches.
The circuit has five grandstand areas (Main Grandstand, West Grandstand, North Grandstand, South Grandstand and Marina Grandstand (aka Support)) and part of its pit lane exit runs underneath the track. It also houses a team building behind the pit building, Media Center, Dragster Track and VIP Tower. Additionally, one of the run-off areas runs underneath the West grandstand.
Aside from Formula One, the circuit has also hosted the short-lived FIA GT1 World Series, rounds of GP2 Asia and the full GP2 Series and overseas rounds of the V8 Supercar Championships, while 2012 saw the creation of a 12 Hour race for GT and sports cars.

Yas Marina Circuit is on Yas Island, to the east of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Having the Abu Dhabi International Airport adjacent to it makes the track easily accessible. Having undergone a recent redevelopment, the airport offers flights to 50 international destinations.
Dubai and its international airport is only an hour away from Dubai. UBER and Local taxi cost around £60-90 depending on who you use. Its an option worth looking at if you travelling to multiple events between Yas Marina and Dubai Autodrome. Convenience, speed, and new, modern facilities are just some of the advantages offered at Dubai International airport and Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central. With over 7,000 weekly flights operated by 125 airlines from 260 destinations on every continent (except Antarctica), you have a wide range of options to choose from when flying to Dubai. Dubai International Airport (IATA: DXB) is the largest hub in the Middle East and the home base of Dubai's flag carrier Emirates and its low-cost wing FlyDubai. In fact, it has grown at such a furious pace that the present terminals are bursting at the seams, especially during the peak hours around midnight. The Dubai International Airport has three terminals and another one in the making as of end 2010.
Abu Dhabi city is 30 minutes away. An option for getting around is a new and heavily subsidised bus service. Yas Express is a complimentary island shuttle service, operating daily from 9am to 9pm. Available to pick up and drop off all Yas Island guests, Yas Express stops at Yas Island’s mega attractions, including the circuit and adjoining Ferrari World exhibition centre.
The Track is located on Yas Island which can cater for people visting either by Hotel or AirBNB rentals. there are a number of hotels on or next to the track itself, and a very large shopping Mall at one end of the track, adjacent to Ferrari World, there is a free bus that will take you between all the Islands areas, attractions and Hotels. There are neumber of supermarkets located around the island, many in the Mall. Bars and resturants are plentiful in the hotels and also again the Shopping Mall. There are also a group of bars and Resturants located on the Water front of Yas Bay behind the Hilton Hotel. Most of the hotels, basr and resturants are easily reach by walking, but you can pick up cabs easily from any of the hotel lobbies. Abu Dahbi iteself is about 35 minutes away by taxi. There are also a number of attractions that can be attended, Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros, Seaworld, VOX Cinema, Etihad Park, Yas Kartzone, Yas Links Golf Course and Yas Beach. A lot of the hotels are located in an area called Yas Plaza which is across the main highway from the track.
